The new 424 DNA chip is designed to reduce the costs bring NFC tag authentication to the mass market. The previous 413 DNA was not widely adopted with many tag producers opting not to add it to their portfolio. However, the new chip, with a standard 50pF tag capacitance, should be easier to adopt and will likely reduce manufacturing costs.
Like the 413 DNA, the new chip also features the ability to include a unique secure code dynamically into the URL address. This is an important feature as the iPhone is currently only capable of reading the NDEF message portion of an NFC tag. By including the secure code dynamically in the URL, the 424 chip will offer authentication to both Android and iPhone users.
The new chip is marketed towards, and is likely to be adopted by, a very broad range of industries including fashion, food and beverages, pharmaceuticals and electrical appliances
424 DNA Tag offers powerful mix of security privacy Trust for loT applications
Overview
424 DNA sets a new standard in secure NFC and IOT applications. The new chip generation offers state-of-the-art features for security and privacy protection, on attack-resistant certified silicon. The 424 DNA is architected to provide AES-128 cryptographic operation, new SUN authentication mechanism upon each read-out by an NFC enabled mobile device, as well as sensitive data protection with crypto-secure access permissions. This enables the most advanced product and content protection, plus secured and unique user experiences served in real-time.
The 424 DNA TagTamper tags go further and facilitate even more customized engagements by serving up status-aware, relevant consumer messages once the tag's seal on a label or container has been broken.
Both the 424 DNA and 424 DNA Tag Tamper are sampling now with select customers.

What is the SUN message
The Secure Unique NFC function generates a unique and secure authentication code whenever the Tag is read. With the SUN function,
an NDEF message (readable by any NFC smarpthones) is generated, using an encryption algorithm that includes: URL, UID, counter scan, and AES key.
Being also connected to the scan counter, each time the Tag is read, it generates a different string. In this way, the content is
protected from cloning.
It is interesting to note that this increase in security is at the same time a simplification of the approach to the end user,
which does not need to download any specific application to verify the authenticity of the Tag (and the content linked to it).
How to encode an 424 DNA
To enable the SUN message, we recommend using the uTrust 3700 F and TagXplorer software
